Killer ListWhat the skull colors meanA skull is the icon shown above a character in-game; it does not recolor the character. Frontier ranks criminal skulls by the saved unjustified-kill counter associated with each character:
Some marks are viewer-specific when no criminal rank is active: white warns that a player has attacked someone, yellow means that player attacked you, orange means they killed you, and green marks a party member. The counter is saved with the character. Killing a player with an equal-or-higher skull reduces it by 10, never below 0. A black skull also gives the character a red light. Only unjustified PvP kills advance the skull counter; justified kills, self-defence, wars and kills in PvP zones do not. This ranking lists recorded player kills, so its total may differ from the skull counter. The client separately tracks unjustified kills over 24 hours, 7 days and 30 days against the current 3/5/10 limits. That rolling progress is distinct from the saved skull-rank counter.
